Lucid Spec is definitely superior to the Visio and MS-Word combination that I used before. It provides the best way for me to get my GUI specifications done quickly and clearly!Chuck Buchanan
I am glad to see a product as useful as this one. It has enabled our company to design and/or modify GUI specifications more quickly and efficiently and with the simulation 'see' the desired functions/actions. An added bonus is the ease of creating supporting documentation in the same application.Randy Friend
Lucid Spec takes WYSIWYG to a new level: WYSIWYG FYD (From Your Developers)! It's an easy-to-use, all-in-one, user interface design, visualization, and documentation tool. The cost savings of all the back and forth time between our design and development teams has paid for Lucid Spec many times over. I was thrilled to have discovered it; an excellent design and communications tool with no programming required.Marcia Pearson
Using a tool like Lucid Spec has allowed our marketing team to identify potential problems like navigation issues, confusing interfaces and missing content early in the process. This has helped us avoid costly change orders with our outside software developers. These savings easily offset the cost of Lucid Spec on the first project.J.J. Shields

Lucid Spec is a Windows application that helps you prototype and describe software user interfaces. It can reduce software development costs, improve user satisfaction, accelerate project communication and clarify requirements.
Through a virtuous cycle of screen design, application simulation, and user interface description, you can rapidly prototype and define your user interface. You can even create a functional specification. The Quick Tour shows how this cycle works.
In addition to the regular Lucid Spec application, there is a separate Player application. The free Player allows you to simulate the application and view the documentation. Generally, a few people may design the application and then many individuals will use the Player to review the design.
You can download the free Lucid Spec player here:

Please note that the Lucid Spec Player has the same requirements to run as Lucid Spec.
Lucid Spec and the free Lucid Spec Player require Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and version 2.0 of the .Net Framework. The .Net Framework is usually installed on your computer already.
