    Fast Formatter is a Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008/2010 add-in that automatically and precisely reformats your C# code according to a variety of user-defined settings.

  2. What do I need to run Fast Formatter?

    Fast Formatter requires any edition Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008/2010 except the Express Edition. The Express Edition doesn't support add-ins and Fast Formatter is an add-in.

  3. How does Fast Formatter work?

    Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008/2010 has powerful, built-in formatting capabilities, but it can only format one file at a time. This makes formatting tedious and time consuming. By utilizing Visual Studio's built-in formatting capabilities, Fast Formatter makes it easy for you to reformat entire projects. Fast Formatter also uses .Net regular expression to add and update your source file headers.

  4. What do I do if I can't see the Fast Formatter menu option in Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010?

    Assuming that you have successfully installed Fast Formatter and you have any edition (except the Express edition) of Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008/2010 installed, the menu option should automatically appear as described in the tutorial. If it doesn't appear, then please try the following:

    1. Launch Visual Studio .Net.
    2. Click on the Tools menu option.
    3. Click on the Add-in Manager menu option. You should see the following screen:

      If you don't see Fast Formatter as an option, try installing Fast Formatter again.
    4. Turn on the checkbox to the left of Fast Formatter and click the OK button. The menu option should now appear.

    If the Fast Formatter menu option still doesn't appear or you don't see the Fast Formatter option in the Add-in Manager, then please try the following:

    1. Close all instances of Visual Studio .NET.
    2. Launch a command window that has the Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008/2010 path and other environment variables set up. You can normally do this by clicking Start menu, Programs menu, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010 menu, Visual Studio Tools menu and then select Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010 Command Prompt.
    3. Once you see the command prompt type the following and press the enter key:
          devenv /resetaddin FastFormatter.Connect
      If you have multiple versions of Visual Studio .NET installed on your machine, please make absolutely certain that you are running the right version of devenv.
    4. Launch Visual Studio .NET 2005/2008/2010 and you should see the Fast Formatter menu option.
